In the winter of 2000 the franchise continued to go by the name "Green Oaks". Making his first Championship appearance at the age of 18, the young quarterback Mikey-mike had played exceptionally well in his first full season. the team had gone undefeated. 10-0. His father was no longer able to play, due to the pain in his hip joint, (surgery would now be inevitable) and Pavia and Eric had retired. Reggie played, but was hampered the entire season by injuries to his groin, sciatic and his pride.

Their opponents in the Championship would be the Knights. they had beaten the Knights the previous season in the game leading to the championship, when Mikey-mike's father made a 2 point conversion with less that 30 seconds left in the game. In the final game of the regular season with both teams tied with undefeated records, the two teams had met again, with the Green Oaks winning 7-6. After scoring the tying touchdown, with mere seconds left, the Knights decided to go for the 2 point conversion to win the game, rather than the one point conversion to tie. they failed to make the 2 point conversion in those final seconds.

The championship game was just as close as the regular season game. On the last play of the game, Mikey-Mike hit Ant for a touchdown, to pull them to within 1 point of the Knights. The clock had expired, they were now down by just one point, with the Green Oaks still having to go for the xtra point that would tie the game, or a two point conversion that would give them win. After consulting on the sideline, Mikey-Mike agreed with his dad, and willie that they should go for the win now.

On a great play by th defense, the Green Oaks failed to make the 2 point conversion this time, and lost the Championship game
